Reporting

  • Although not considered as a staff member of the African Union, if selected, you will be subject to the authority of the Head of the Mission, and the authority delegated by him/her to Officers.

  • You will not be eligible to privileges and immunities accorded by member states to the African Union, its officials, and staff members.

Financial Support

  • This is an unpaid internship, hence, you are advised to make your own financial arrangements to cover for your living expenses.

  • Additionally, you (or your sponsoring institution), will be responsible for travel costs to and from the duty station, and accommodation.

Health Insurance Coverage

  • You are required to have an adequate medical insurance before the start of the internship. The African Union will not be responsible for any costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship.

Visa Status

  • The African Union does not sponsor visas for internships. You must ensure that you have a valid passport and visa, and/or valid passport and applicable work authorization. 

Confidentiality and Discretion

  • If selected, you will be required to exercise utmost discretion and confidentiality on information that you will collect or exposed to at the African Union. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from the African Union without explicit written authorization of the Head of the Mission.
